We’re finally back in Scotland, back in Edinburgh, back in this fairy-tale city with its turrets and towers, its castle, and its many layers – New Town and Old Town, North and South, Morningside airs and graces, Leith perseverence, beauty, grit and grime in equal measure. It feels good.
It was an eventful year away. What began with me leaving to do an MA in Cornwall became a different sort of journey – Sarah and I have come back here with a little girl, Scarlett, helping me see everything with fresh eyes. You can read more about our adventures in the far South-West on my other blog, Year in a Cornish Cabin. It was a strange blend of gig rowing, wood chopping, professional broadcast training, and of course, the birth of baby Scarlett. That began as a home-birth, and ended in an ventouse delivery by a four mid-wives in Treliske Hospital in Cornwall, and a badly injured baby.
How things change. Scarlett is a healthy, beautiful little girl of six months. My MA is completed in some style. And we have a new home, in the heart of our favourite city.
Time for adventures new.
